So true--Thank you to my IL cuz -- SK

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio
"To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested
column I've ever written.. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:"

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone..
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ''In five years, will this matter?".
26. Always choose life.
27. Forgive everyone everything.
28. What other people think of you is none of your business.
29. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.
30. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
31. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
32. Believe in miracles.
33. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
34. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
35. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
36. Your children get only one childhood.
37. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
38. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
39. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd
grab ours back.
40. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
41. The best is yet to come.
42. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
43. Yield.
44. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

To: ____________________----you know who you are--

Thank you to someone who I won't name--but she is awesome & this came to me today @ the perfect moment! Thanks SRG!!!

A Birth Certificate shows that we were born.

A Death Certificate shows that we died.

Pictures show that we lived!

Have a seat . . . Relax . . . And read this slowly.

I Believe...

That just because two people argue, doesn't mean they don't love each other.

And just because they don't argue, doesn't mean they do love each other.

I Believe...

That sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry,

but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.

I Believe...

That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.

I Believe...

That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.

I Believe...

That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance.

Same goes for true love.

I Believe...

That you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I Believe....

That it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I Believe...

That you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I Believe...

That you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I Believe...

That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I Believe....

That either you control your attitude or it controls you.

I Believe...

That heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I Believe...

That money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I Believe...

That my best friend and I can do anything, or nothing, and have the best time.

I Believe...

That sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

I Believe....

That maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you've had, and what you've learned from them.....and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I Believe..

That it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others.

Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I Believe...

That no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.

I Believe...

That our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are,

but we are responsible for who we become.

I Believe...

That you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life Forever.

I Believe...

Two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I Believe...

That your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don't even know you.

I Believe...

That even when you think you have no more to give, if a friend cries out to will find the strength to help.

I Believe...

That credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I Believe...

That the people you care about most in life are taken from you too soon.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

They just make the most of everything.

Thank you God for all the wonderful people who help us throughout the journey of life..

"A true friend is someone who reaches for your hand and touches your heart."

Where to begin.
Seems that Life, once again, has hit me upside my head.
More challenges! More frustrations!

There comes a point in your life when you realize:
Who matters,
Who never did,
Who won't anymore...
And who always will..
So, don't worry about people from your past ,
there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future..

We all need to stop, relax & smell the roses.
Well, I am not a big fan of roses, but to sit & relax & see what is all in front of!
It is really time to make some changes, health-wise too.
Not sure where to begin, I am up for the task! I am not a quitter and writing a daily journal is where I will begin. Maybe not here, everyday, but this is what I used to do & I got out of the habit. I enjoy writing, even tho @ times I can't read my own writing, but while "journaling", it helps me, helps me understand me, especially when I pick the log up & re-read what I wrote--

This gets me through a rough day too--all that surrounds me & is around me, where ever I go--Nature's Beauty!

Look @ all the green! MARVELOUS!!!!

This gets me through ALL!! My son, My Rock! And seeing him grow into a mature adult & have the honor of watching his relationship w/B grow & mature!!! I am honored they allow me to see them @ these fun times & all other times!!
Love them BOTH!!!

My most reason to be happy & honored--my Family Roots!
This is what I wake up to most everyday. A beautiful site to see, not matter what season.
The Now, The Present--it is a gift, so take it & unwrap it & see what it has to offer you & if you don't like to, change it! Take charge!
It's been a long road for me, w/my health-but here is to a slow & steady process on healing--in many many different ways.
As the statement voices above, it doesn't matter anymore--who is here in my life is who is here & on my side--I like that!
So cheers to my recovery & a speed one--but, didn't the tortoise win the race--nice & slow--it took me awhile to get here & it'll take ME awhile to get back!
A new life experience!

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!!! Sunday May 10, 2009

We had some visitors for Mother's Day!!!

Very dark, but my little "biggin'" camed for a visit to us, Nana & Aunti M!!
J & J & K came too!!!
A GREAT day!!

What a pair!!

And yet another pair!!

We played a little--and BTW--I beat ATW, for once @ cribbage!! Not sure how this game ended!

We ate a little!!

Fished a little--What am I saying I think Jamie caught more than John--I think they caught 5 in all!!

Thanks Al!!!!

Flowers, flowers, flowers everywhere!

Way back when, we used to always get "E-E" flowers to plant around the lakeside home. Now my middle sister & I get Mom flowers to decorate with. She loves them & always has a flair when putting them together in her deck planters or throughtout the land. I know I am the "brat" of the family, but always celebrate her, because then I wouldn't be here!
Happy Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

Gearing up Summer 2009!

Yes, I love Red, White & Blue.
Now all I need to do is replace my two American Flags from the winters' wear on them!

Papa's apple tree, once again all lit up!

A friend of mine, her daughter, calls my home "The Star" home!
There is nothing like stars & white lites to lite up anyone's day and their world!

The weekend after Easter

The temp gauge stated a nice warm day, but the lake--NOT!!

Talk about CRAZY!!!
Best friends went for a run & then jumped into Little Sebago Lake!!

Life is too short

If Today Was Your Last Day lyrics
Songwriters: Kroeger, Chad;
My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had, if today was your last day?
What if, what if, if today was your last day?

Against the grain should be a way of life
What's worth the price is always worth the fight
Every second counts 'cause there's no second try
So live like you're never living twice
Don't take the free ride in your own life

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had?

And would you call those friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories?
Would you forgive your enemies?
And would you find that one you're dreaming of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you'd finally fall in love if today was your last day?

If today was your last day
Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart?
You know it's never too late to shoot for the stars
Regardless of who you are

So do whatever it takes
'Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life
Let nothing stand in your way
'Cause the hands of time are never on your side

If today was your last day and tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past?
Donate every dime you had?

And would you call those friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories?
Would you forgive your enemies?
And would you find that one you're dreaming of
Swear up and down to God above
That you'd finally fall in love if today was your last day?

**Has anyone out there really looked @ their life & wondered?
Life is too short.
If I am to live til I am ninety years old, that will be awesome. But think this way, the world was here WELL before I was ever thought of & the world will be here after I am WELL forgotten.
I am nothing special, but my moments count. I hope yours do to.
Whether there be loss, happiness, saddness, crazy times, bad ecomoic times, we will all get through this in our own ways & in our own time.
Two thoughts I have recently found:

"Death Leaves A Heartache No One Can Heal. Love Leaves A Memory That No On Can Steal."

"For long you live and high you fly, the smiles you give and tears you cry, for all you touch and all you see, is all your life will ever be"

I find strength in words. In songs, in quotes & other friends that are there for me.

How lucky am I to have friends, even far away, help me heal!

Thank you!!!
